The Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD) has handed over a project vehicle to the Oromia Environment Protection Authority (Oromia EPA), one of the four regional host institutions implementing the Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) Ethiopia Project.
The vehicle was provided to strengthen field-level coordination, supervision, and delivery of project activities across Oromia Regionâs extensive geographic coverage. It will support timely travel to project landscapes and enhance engagement with communities, local institutions, and other stakeholders.
Oromia EPA plays a central role in advancing the FOLUR Ethiopia Projectâs objectives through interventions in coffee restoration, broader landscape restoration, womenâs empowerment, participatory forest management, and knowledge management. Given the regionâs large area and the scale of activities underway, reliable transport is essential for effective monitoring, technical support, and follow-up in project areas.
The handover reflects MoPDâs commitment to equipping regional host institutions with the resources needed to translate national environmental and development priorities into practical results on the ground. The vehicle is expected to improve the Authorityâs capacity to reach remote communities, oversee restoration work, document lessons, and facilitate collaboration among implementing partners.
Through strengthened institutional capacity and coordinated action, the FOLUR Ethiopia Project aims to promote sustainable land-use practices, restore degraded landscapes, improve livelihoods, and increase the participation of women and local communities in natural-resource management.
The Ministry reaffirmed its continued support for Oromia EPA and the other regional host institutions, emphasizing that effective implementation at regional and local levels is fundamental to achieving the projectâs environmental, social, and economic objectives.
